Weiner Pickle Hot Dog Wrapped in Bacon

Pickle Wieners

Anyone who knows my husband, knows he is a slightly CrAzY PICKLE lover and people are always tagging him in pickle things or sending him pictures/videos of pickle recipes!

Someone sent him a picture of a hot dog inside of a pickle, but with no instructions or recipe/source! We decided to experiment and come up with our own recipe!

These Cheesy Pickle Hot Dogs Wrapped in Bacon (and potentially corn dogs!) are a fun twist to add more flavor to your normal hot dog meal! Hang on for this ride!

Materials:

  • Hot Dogs Stuffed with Cheese
  • Large Whole Pickles
  • Bacon
  • Plastic Straw
  • Plate
  • Baking Sheet with Foil

Ingredients for Pickle WeinersStep 1:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Lightly cook the hot dogs on the stove until they are slightly blistered on multiple sides over medium heat.Hot Dogs WeinersWeiners on Stove CookingStep 2:

Pick out your largest pickles out of your jar. Slice off a small piece on both ends of the pickle.Vlasic Pickles CutCore out the middle of your pickle by using your plastic straw to poke through the ends of your pickle. Do this multiple times until there is a large hole in the middle of your pickle big enough for your hot dog to fit in. You’ll want to do this over a plate because it can be quite messy. This is the safest way I thought of to core out the middle of the pickle without using a knife! (I don’t really trust myself)

Stuff your slightly cooked hot dog through the middle of your cored out pickle being careful not to split the pickle open in the process. I used tongs to push it through and to make holding them a big easier.

Wrap the pickle stuffed hot dogs in thin strips of bacon and lay them on the baking sheet covered in foil. Let them cook in the oven at 350 for 30 minutes or until the bacon is cooked to your liking.

Push skewers through your cooked cheesy pickle hog dogs wrapped in bacon to make it easier for dipping and eating. Note: I had to use two on each one because one was just too flimsy and I thought it would break!

Dip the skewers with your fun hot dogs into the corn dog batter and cover completely. You can use a spoon to help cover the whole thing with the batter.
