DIY Growler Bottle Lamp

In 10 simple steps, I will show you how to DIY this awesome lamp out of the growler! I fell in love with this particular growler because it says “The Craftroom”, which is a local brewery in Albuquerque and I thought it would be the perfect addition to my craft room!

Step 1:

Personally, I don’t like when the lamp wire is coming out of the top of the lamp, like the kit suggests you to do. I prefer the cord and plug to come out of the bottom of the lamp instead to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

But in order to do this, you need to drill a hole near the bottle of the bottle for the cord to come out of. Place the bottle upside down into a small trash can to hold it secure while you drill.

Drill your hole slow and steady to avoid any additional cracking of the glass. The special glass drill bit makes the glass turn into a fine powder, so it doesn’t just chip off glass pieces.

Inside your bottle wiring kit, there should be a bottle fitting for the top of the bottom. You’ll want to pick the one that fits the best, without being too large. The biggest fitting in my kit fit my growler the best, but it was still a little too small and would just fall through. To make it fit better, I cut small strips of duct tape and wrapped it around the fitting until it fit snuggly. Bottle Fitting with Duct TapeStep 3:

Attach the nipple piece to your bottle fitting and attach the washer to the bottom of the nipple to secure.Lamp bottle fitting with duct tapeStep 4:

Thread the cord through the hole in the bottom of the bottle and through the top of the bottle. Growler Lamp Base Growler with wires for lamp Step 5:

Thread the wire for the cord through the lamp nipple with the bottle fitting and leave just a few inches of wire coming out. Secure the fitting into the top of the bottle. It should be a snug fit.Bottle fitting with lamp wiring coming outGrowler lamp Step 6:

Place the bottle cap on top of the nipple to cover the fitting inside the bottle.Growler lid to cover fittingStep 7:

Next, feed the bottom of the socket cap through the wiring. If you wanted to have your wire come out the of the top of the lamp, this is where the cord would be fed through instead of the bottom. I just prefer this look because I feel it looks cleaner. Socket Base on Growler Lamp Step 6:

Tie a loose knot with the wires. This will help prevent them to become unattached later after they are fully wired up in the socket. Knot with wires on growler lamp Step 8:

Attach each wire to the screws on either side of the switch and tighten the screws with a screwdriver to ensure they are secure. You may need to adjust your knot of the wires so they will fit snuggly into the socket base. Snap the socket into the base to secure. Growler lamp wiring into socketSocket snapped into socket base Step 9:
