This carpet cleaning trick has saved me time and time again with our puppy training and the occasional accident! However, it works on many different types of stains!

Materials:
- Iron (Note: This iron is strictly for cleaning my carpets and I do not use it on my clothes!)
- Washcloth
- White Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Black Light (Optional)
Step 1:
Use your black light to locate your stains. This part is optional, but works really well for urine stains from your pets. Please visit this post for additional information about this cleaning method. If you’re not using a black light, you can just locate a normal stain on your carpet.
Step 2:
Sprinkle some baking soda in a thin layer over the stain area. I usually sprinkle a little more than the area so I can be sure to get all of the stain out of the carpet. Sometimes stains will spread under the surface and you cannot see them. Doing this will ensure that you are getting the whole area cleaned.
Step 3:
Wet your washcloth and wring it out so it’s not soaking wet, but it’s damp.
Take some white vinegar and pour a small amount to the top of the baking soda. This will make the baking soda react and begin to clean the carpet. You can also place your washcloth on top of the stain and pour the white vinegar on top of the wash cloth. I haven’t noticed a difference in which order you do it in, so they seem to be about the same.
Place your washcloth on top of the stain soaked area if you haven’t yet done so.
Step 4:
Place your pre-heated iron on top of the wet washcloth and hold it or leave it there until all the steam disappears. This process is drawing the stain out of the carpet and into the washcloth. Once all the steam disappears, move it to the next portion of your washcloth and repeat the process. Once your whole area has been steamed, rinse out your washcloth.
Repeat step 4 until the stain no longer transfers to the washcloth and it runs clean. Once this happens, the spot should be gone and the area should be clean. You can use your black light again to verify if it’s completely gone or not. 😉
Repeat complete process if nessesary.
See how it pulls the stain from the carpet into the washcloth? GROSS!
Step 5:
Once the carpet is completely dry, vacuum the area to be sure all of the banking soda is gone from the carpet and cleaned.
That is amazing! Ty for sharing!
You’re so welcome!
