I decided to knit up some adorable, yet quick, little baby booties for my bundle of joy set to arrive in November! 🙂
Note: This is not my pattern – I just wanted to show the pattern from Crafty Tuts in my own style with some additional pictures that the original pattern did not have. Please go and check out her blog or follow her on IG!

Materials:
- Baby Yarn in Worsted Weight
- Knitting Needles in size 5.5mm or 9
- Scissors
- Yarn Needle
Step 1:
Cast on 36 stitches using either the long-tail method or the knit cast on method. I personally chose to use the long-tail method this time.
Step 2:
Knit each row until it is 2” in length. This is garter stitch (straight knitting).
Step 3:
Once it is 2” in length, cast off your first 9 stitches and knit to the end of the row. 27 stitches should remain.
Step 4:
Cast off the first 9 stitches again and knit to the end of the row. You should now have 18 stitches in the middle remaining.
Step 5:
The next row pattern should be: Knit first 3 stitches, *yarn over, slip slip knit* repeat from * until 3 stitches remain. Knit the last 3 stitches.
Step 6:
Knit the remaining rows until the middle of the knitting (from the beginning) measures 3”. The first row after the yarn over and slip slip knits, you will have some loose stitches to knit. This is going to make adorable little eyelets for your tie.
Step 7:
Cast off all 18 stitches. Tie off your knitting.
Step 8:
Choose which side you would like to be on the inside. Fold your knitted piece in half to form the shape of the bootie.Cut a piece of yarn about 24” or so and thread your yarn needle.
Step 9:
Sew up the edges along the bottom, front, and top of the bootie. I just used a whip stitch to make it easier. If there was a yarn that needed to be weaved in, I also just weaved it in while I sewed it shut to eliminate some work! 🙂
Weave in any additional ends. Turn the bootie right side out to hide your sewing.
Step 10:
For the string, either knit or crochet a chain or you can also use a ribbon. I decided to just to crochet a quick chain (about 60 stitches or so) and tie off for each bootie.
Weave in the ribbon or chain to the bootie eyelet holes you created earlier and tie a bow.
