Materials:
-
- Sock Yarn
-
- U.S. 4 circular knitting needles for magic loop. (I used the KnitPicks interchangeable set)
-
- Scissors
- Stitch Markers
Step 1:
Cast on 64 stitches loosely. Divide into 32 stitches on each needle. Join in round. Place a stitch marker on the first stitch for beginning of round. I like to knit the first row before I begin the pattern so the sock is loose enough to fit comfortably, but this is not required.
Work 10 rounds in ribbing: (K1, P1)
Step 2:
Texture Pattern:
1st round: Knit
2nd round: *K1. P3. Repeat from * around
3rd round: Knit
4th round: *K1. P3. Repeat from * around
5th round: Knit
6th round: *P2. K1. P1. Repeat from * around
7th round: Knit
8th round: *P2. K1. P1. Repeat from * around
Repeat the pattern until your work from the beginning measures 4”, ending on a 4th or 8th round.
Step 3:
Knit the next round while increasing 8 stitches evenly around. I added 4 stitches on each side using the Front and Back increase method.
Work 5 rounds in ribbing: (K1. P1)
Step 4:
Cast off 36 stitches loosely in ribbing (one whole side). NOTE: To cast off the last stitch, slip one stitch from the other needle to cast off last stitch and then slip it back.
Complete the ribbing to the end of that round.
Cast on 36 stitches loosely using the knit cast on method and rejoin in round. Add a second stitch marker just until you get going again on the pattern.
Work 5 rounds in ribbing: (K1. P1)
Step 5:
Knit the next round while decreasing 8 stitches evenly around (4 on each side) by knitting two stitches together. You should now have 64 stitches. Beginning on the second round of the texture pattern, work 2 ½” in the texture ending on the 1st or 5th (knit) round of pattern.
Step 6:
Work 10 rounds of ribbing: (K1. P1).
Cast off in ribbing (K1. P1). Weave in ends using a tapestry needle.
Repeat steps 1-6 for the second sock! 🙂
These are the cutest! You have some serious skills! I have tried before and fiailed. I excited to get the step by step process here! Thank you for this great post!
Hi Melissa,
So glad you enjoyed it! 🙂 Have you tried knitting other things? It would probably be easier to start with a scarf or dishcloth or something!
