Black Light Cleaning

Think your bathroom is clean? Think again! Do you have pets that you think are “perfect”? Think again! Use your Black Light Flashlight to find those pesky “problem areas” you didn’t know were there! This is my FAVORITE cleaning hack–and it’s mine! 🙂

Materials:

Bathroom:

Step 1:

Turn the lights off in your bathroom.

Step 2:

Walk around shining your black light flashlight around to find your “problem areas”. Perhaps the biggest area will be around the toilet, but you may be surprised at what else you will find!

Step 3:

Clean said “problem areas” with cleaning products and the lights off to make sure you get it all!

Carpet:

Step 1:

Turn off the lights in the room you’re inspecting.

Step 2:

Shine your black light flashlight on your carpet and walk around to see if you can spot any “problem areas”. NOTE: Urine will shine a bright neon green, so that’ll be easy to spot! You may also see that your vacuum didn’t do a very good job and you can see fibers, lint, or string all over the floor that you cannot see with your naked eye. See below which vacuum cleaner I recommend to get the best clean.

Step 3:

Clean any “problem areas” that you spotted during your check. Vacuum again or use your preferred carpet cleaning solution to clean the carpet stains. I really like to use the Woolite Triple Action Carpet Cleaner for quick spot clean ups.

I usually clean with the lights off and just use the black light flashlight to make sure I got it all before turning the lights back on.

Recommendation: My all-time favorite vacuum cleaner is the Dyson V6 because it does an amazing job getting all the dirt, dust, and hair out of the carpet! It’s also bagless and cordless, making it super easy to take all over the house! I can honestly say, my house has never been cleaner than it is with this machine! It also comes with lots of different attachments, making it easy to use on your hard floor surfaces (tiles, laminate, wood, etc), carpet, vents, stairs, vehicles, and you can easily store it away with the wall/charger attachment. I LOVE it!

  1. I take it from the fact that you skipped the blacklight “after” picture that the carpet cleaner you mentioned does not remove the stain that shows up under uv?
