This is an easy homemade ornament you can make for the knitter in your life!
Materials:
- Plain Ornament
- Yarn
- Hot glue gun
- Tooth picks
- Small seed beads
- String
- Scissors
Step 1:
Starting at the top of the ornament, hot glue the yarn all the way around until you get to the bottom. NOTE: I found it to be easiest to put hot glue on the surface of the ornament in several places so you can wrap the yarn around a little faster.
Step 2:
When you get to the bottom of the ornament, do not cut the yarn. We’ll use this yarn to make it look like a ball of yarn!
Step 3:
Haphazardly wrap the yarn around the ornament to make it look like it’s a ball of yarn. Cut the yarn and place a small amount of hot glue to hold it in place. Be sure not to cover up the ornament top, so it can still be hung.
Step 4:
Knitting Needles:
Hot glue one seed bead on each toothpick. I cut off a little bit of the end of the toothpick sticking out so they were flush with the bead. Aren’t they cute?
Step 5:
Add the knitting needles to your ornament. You can add them however you would like. I just chose a more “traditional” look for knitting needles with the criss-cross.
Step 6:
Tie your string to the top of the ornament. You could also just use the little strings or hooks that come with the ornaments, but I wanted something a little stronger.
Ta-dah! All of your knitting friends and family would love to receive a knitting ornament, especially if it’s handmade by you! 🙂
