Recently, I had the pleasure of taking a trip to one of my favorite cities in the whole US – San Diego, CA! While I was in San Diego, I decided to check out a Local Yarn Store (LYS) to see what kind of speciality yarns they had.
I looked at all the ones in the area and chose to visit one based on the location, ratings/reviews, and the pictures online. Apricot Yarn & Supply was my winner!
The shop was everything I hoped it would be and more! Friendly staff (Kelsea helped me), awesome product selections, great fresh space with modern displays of the yarn, and fun little notions! To be honest, most of the other LYS in the area kind of looked old and cluttered. I was drawn to Apricot because it looked clean and had a fresh vibe. I will definitely be making this a routine stop anytime I am visiting San Diego in the future!
The location of the shop also intrigued me because of all the other fun stuff there is to do in Liberty Station!
A little about Liberty Station:
Liberty Station is a old Naval Base Training Center in Point Loma, CA. They have this AMAZING public market with tons and tons of vendors for various food, drinks, etc. I ended up getting some tacos (it was taco Tuesday, not that I would have let that stop me anyway!) and a smoothie. I took the smoothie to go and went and sat under a lovely tree near the bay and watched the airplanes take off from the airport while I knit! It was sooooo delightful and just what I needed! Knitting with a view is perfect!!
Yarn Haul:
I know the next question is going to be…”what did you buy at Apricot?” Here’s my yarn haul for my next project – Ramble Shawl by Andrea Renee Knits!
1 Ravelry Pattern Download (for my new yarn!) #SupportLocal
2 Skeins of Malabrigo Rios in color Zarzamora | 100% Merino Superwash
2 Skeins of Malabrigo Rios in color Sand Bank | 100% Merino Superwash
I also bought:
1 Local Skein of La Jolla in color Raisin in Bar | 100% Superwash Merino
What should I make with this skein?
1 Cute little Kitchener Stitch Notion with the pattern listed right on it! 🙂
I loved their cute little touches like the stamped bags and tissue paper wrapped yarn! It’s the little things! Be sure to visit Apricot Yarn & Supply the next time you find yourself in San Diego – you’ll be so happy you did!
