DIY Pickle Jar Storage

Turn a pickle jar into a storage solution! It’s also environmentally friendly!

Materials

  • Pickles
  • Brillo Pad
  • Paint
  • Labels
  • Chalk

Step 1:

Eat your pickles! If you have a pickle loving husband like I do, that won’t take too long! 🙂 This is a one gallon jar size, but any size will work depending on what you want to store!

Step 2:

Peel off the label and scrub off the residue and the printed on date. I like to use the brillo pad for this to make the scrubbing easier.

Step 3:

Paint your lid to cover up the words. I used this Rustoleum spray paint. If you’re going to use spray paint, use a box to contain the mess, then throw the box away!

Step 4:

Add a label and use your chalk to mark what the jar is for!

  1. Hey girlfriend,
Most commercial labels are heat set. Heat the label with a blow dryer for 30 seconds or so to loosen then easily peel the label off.

My preferred method is to fill the jar with hot tsp water. Usually by the time the jar is full the label should peel off easily. If there is some gummy glue left just scrub off. Degreaser or degreaser liquid soap left on for a minute or so will was it off easily. Try it!!!
